CIMA Jobs Abroad

As CIMA is a globally recognised body, you can look for work internationally if you have a CIMA qualification. When searching for a job in another country, there are a few things that you should keep in mind:

  • Are you able to understand and communicate in the language(s) predominantly spoken in the country in which you would like to work?

  • How will you pay for relocation costs? Will your new employer assist you with this?

  • You need to make sure that you will be able to get a visa and a work permit for the country in question.

  • You should consider the cost of living abroad in relation to the salary on offer.

  • Starting salaries vary depending on location, both within and across countries. You are likely to earn more if you work in a large city, but the living costs will generally also be higher.

  • Working conditions and the work-life balance differ from country to country.

  • Before you accept a job, make sure that it is a legitimate offer from a reputable company.

How to find CIMA jobs in other countries:

  • CIMA advertises jobs in various countries here

  • You can search online – this will give you a good indication of the options that are available

  • Join an international recruitment agency

  • Try to find employment with a local branch of an international company – you might be given the opportunity to be transferred to a branch in another country, and it will be easier to find out about opportunities that become available internationally.

  • Approach specific companies that you would like to work for, and find out in which countries they have suitable job opportunities.

Due to the competitive job market, and the fact that many countries are under pressure to employ their own citizens, you will need to be very proactive in order to find a good position in another country. It is important that your CV is professional and up-to-date, and that you know how to market yourself properly.
